Morson Group: Fundamental Reshaping Combines 19 Brands into Four

£3 Billion Scale • 19 Brands → 4 Consolidated P&Ls

The Strategic Challenge: Morson Group is an engineering, talent, and technical workforce powerhouse headquartered in Manchester. Decades of continuous corporate acquisition had left the group with 18 competing P&Ls and 19 disconnected brand identities. This operational sprawl resulted in severe internal friction, client confusion, and margin erosion ahead of a planned majority buyout by Canadian private equity titan ONEX.

NOKAMO’s Strategic Intervention: Facilitated direct executive restructuring across six primary stakeholder groups. We re-engineered the corporate operating model into four consolidated Strategic Business Units (SBUs) focused on high-margin, capability-led growth. We designed an edgy, modern identity positioning Morson ‘at the sharp end’ of complex engineering convergence, and orchestrated the company-wide launch for 2,000+ multinational employees.

“For us, brand and business strategy are one and the same, and this work has given us a backbone for all future decision-making, direction and growth.” Ged Mason OBE — Chief Executive Officer, Morson Group

Core Competencies Delivered: Direct Board Liaison, Qualitative & Quantitative Research, Insights & Econometrics, Corporate Strategy & Vision, Masterbrand Architecture, Company Naming, Visual Identity System, Vision Film & 2,000-Attendee Launch Event.

Nexora: Turning Sprawl into Leverage for Group Exit Readiness

27 Autonomous Business Units Unified in 5 Weeks

The Strategic Challenge: Formerly operating as DCC Technology PLC, the group comprised 27 specialised, high-performing technology distribution and supply-chain businesses spanning Europe and North America. While each subsidiary traded profitably with local autonomy, the collective group possessed zero unifying narrative. When parent company DCC PLC announced intentions to divest the division, executive leadership urgently needed enterprise-level coherence to maximise valuation ahead of an imminent private equity auction.

NOKAMO’s Strategic Intervention: Completed an intense 5-day stakeholder immersion across the international businesses. We rejected the flawed instinct of imposing a heavy-handed trading brand; instead, we developed an enabler model based on a ‘1 + 1 = 3’ strategic logic under the creative idea of ‘Progress’. We originated the global name ‘Nexora’, formulated the brand strategy framework, and launched the high-definition identity at an executive conference in Chicago just five weeks after the brief.

“The work is exemplary. It reflects who we are today and where we are going... capturing our energy, our ambition and our belief in the power of technology to enrich lives.” Clive Fitzharris — Chief Executive Officer, Nexora

Core Competencies Delivered: Direct Board Liaison, International Immersion, Masterbrand Positioning, Company Naming, Brand Architecture Framework, Visual Asset Suite, Chicago Global Launch Event.

NormCyber: Taking Cybersecurity from Clichés to a £100M Valuation Target

£100 Million Enterprise Value (EV) Positioning

The Strategic Challenge: Formerly known as Think Marble Cyber Security, the firm targeted a 10-year valuation goal of £100M EV. However, the cybersecurity category was suffocated by hyperbolic clichés—binary code waterfalls, hooded hackers, and panic-driven fear marketing. Prospective enterprise buyers had tuned out, leaving Think Marble trapped in generic market sameness.

NOKAMO’s Strategic Intervention: We established the provocative insight that enterprise cybersecurity is perceived by business buyers as fundamentally boring—and leaning directly into that commercial reality was its greatest asset. We repositioned cybersecurity away from dramatic IT catastrophes toward steady balance-sheet resilience: ‘Business As Normal’. Rebranded the company to NormCyber, re-architected modular product offerings, and introduced predictable recurring subscription pricing.

“This positioning was a hard pill for the VCs, engineers, sales and commercial teams to swallow – but its unique capacity to upend the status quo internally and externally provided a pivotal competitive advantage.” Wayne Churchill — Chief Executive Officer, NormCyber

Core Competencies Delivered: Board Liaison, Company Naming, Brand Strategy Framework, Masterbrand Proposition, Modular Product IP Architecture, Recurring Subscription Modeling, Integrated B2B Campaigns.

Whitworths: Giving a Heritage Food Brand a Purpose Even PE Backers Love

£30M Incremental Enterprise Value Target in 3 Years

The Strategic Challenge: Whitworths was a historic British dried fruit, nut, and seed supplier backed by private equity owners demanding £30M incremental EV in three years. However, the business was pigeonholed as a low-margin home-baking ingredient supplier in a stagnant retail grocery category with declining baking occasions.

NOKAMO’s Strategic Intervention: Repositioned the enterprise from an unglamorous baking ingredient co-packer into an essential ‘Nutrient Powerhouse’. Grounded the strategy in scientific nutritional data addressing nationwide micronutrient deficiencies, unlocking millions of daily snacking and breakfast occasions. Launched the strategy at The Gherkin with food policy activist Henry Dimbleby MBE and the British Nutrition Foundation, backed by national TV advertising and retail packaging redesigns.

“We needed a strategy framework that could be applicable for everyone from the CFO to the forklift truck driver. I have every confidence Ian and his team’s work will meet the targeted £30m incremental EV in 3 years.” Chief Executive Officer — Whitworths

Core Competencies Delivered: Brand Strategy Framework, Category Range Architecture, Segmentation & Targeting, Nutritional Science Grounding, The Gherkin Media Launch, National TV Commercials, Retail Packaging Redesign.
